Emergency Rescheduling — Verified Emergencies, Zero Penalty

The Emergency Rescheduling Policy protects everyone when a truck has a verified on-road emergency: the delivery window is rescheduled through LoadBoot Dispatch with no penalty to the carrier, and the broker and shipper get a fair, fast, clock-bound process.

The standard

What applies on every LoadBoot load unless the posting says otherwise

💰

Verified emergency → new window proposed → 2-hour response window per party → auto-reschedule if no response

Breakdowns, accidents and medical events are a daily reality of trucking. Without a written process, drivers get blamed, brokers get surprised, and shippers get silence. This policy replaces phone-tag with a verified, timestamped chain.

What it looks like on the road

A real-world scenario

A tire blows on I-20 near Shreveport. The driver reports it inside the trip with a photo and live GPS. Dispatch verifies in minutes, proposes a next-morning window from the driver’s own downtime estimate, the broker taps Accept, the shipper confirms a new dock slot — and the rate confirmation updates itself. No shouting, no penalty, all on record.

Why this exists

The economics in one paragraph

Carriers deserve protection when something real goes wrong; brokers and shippers deserve proof that it IS real, plus a guaranteed response clock so a load never hangs in limbo.

The rules

Both sides agree to these when posting or booking on LoadBoot

Verification first

Nothing is rescheduled on a phone call alone. LoadBoot Dispatch runs a 4-point check: live GPS trail (stationary where reported), photo proof with matching time/location, a driver call-back, and the carrier’s claim history.

Driver supplies downtime

Only the driver knows when the truck will be road-ready (2h/6h/12h/24h/48h or “not sure” — then Dispatch calls first). The proposed window = old window + downtime + remaining transit, rounded to the next facility slot.

Proposed is not final

The carrier sees PROPOSED until every required party confirms. Broker-posted loads: broker accepts or counters. Shipper-originated loads: the broker forwards and the SHIPPER’s dock confirmation is final.

2-hour response window

Each responding party has 2 hours. No response → policy auto-reschedule: open delivery locks the proposed window; appointment delivery books the next available dock slot.

Counters are bounded

A counter-window must be within ±12 hours of the proposal and is matched against the driver’s readiness before it is locked.

No penalty on verified emergencies

No TONU, no late fee, no on-time-score damage for the carrier. This clause is accepted by every broker and shipper at posting — posting is impossible without it.

Driver communication line

Drivers may give facilities ETA/check-in updates only; every window change flows through LoadBoot Dispatch.

Fraud consequences

A false report (moving GPS during a “breakdown”, stale photos, repeated claims) suspends auto-protection, damages the carrier’s score and can end in a platform ban; the broker’s TONU rights revive.

How to claim it — step by step

The exact sequence, from the gate to the money

1

Driver reports inside the trip: type, need (reschedule / help / both), note, photo proof, live GPS (required)

2

Driver picks a road-ready estimate — the engine proposes the new window

3

Dispatch verifies genuine with the 4-point check

4

Per load type, the responding parties accept, counter (±12h) or time out into auto-reschedule

5

Everyone gets the FINAL window; the rate confirmation updates; the evidence pack stays with the trip

Mistakes that kill claims

Learn them here, not the expensive way

⚠️

Reporting by phone only

Use the in-app report — without GPS + proof, the no-penalty protection cannot attach.

⚠️

Guessing the downtime high

The next trip’s data shows real repair time; inflated estimates look like fraud sensors firing.

⚠️

Broker ignoring the clock

Silence does not park the load — after 2 hours the policy reschedules it automatically.

⚠️

Shipper skipping the dock update

On appointment freight the reschedule is only real once a dock slot exists; confirm or propose a slot inside the window.

How LoadBoot enforces it

Software, not arguments

📍

Timestamps

GPS-stamped arrive/depart on every stop — measured, not argued.

🔔

Deadline alerts

The app warns before free time or notification windows expire.

Evidence pack

Photos, receipts and times collected on the trip and attached to the invoice.

Inside the product

Real screens — how this policy actually runs

The trip card — the red Emergency button lives beside pay claims and report issue
One tap from the trip — the Emergency button, right where the road problem happens.
Broker live tracking — the same trip, the same facts, on both screens
The poster watches the same trip — a verified emergency is a fact, not an excuse.

These are real portal screens, not mockups — the same rail that runs GPS tracking & proof and payments & settlements. The claim this page describes is drafted from that trip data and paid through that ledger.

Who this protects

One policy, three winners — carrier, broker & shipper, and the board itself

The carrier

Breakdowns and genuine emergencies happen. Verified through the app within the window, they reschedule the load with zero penalty and no TONU against you.

🏢 The broker & shipper

Verification is the point — you get the real reason on record within 2 hours plus a recovery plan, instead of a dead phone and a mystery.

The marketplace

Separating real emergencies from silent cancellations keeps account health scores honest for everyone.

Frequently asked

Straight answers

Who sets the new time — the driver or the broker?

The driver supplies facts (downtime); the engine proposes; the responding party (broker, or shipper on shipper-originated freight) confirms or counters within policy bounds. Nobody dictates alone.

What if nobody responds?

That is the point of the 2-hour rule: the load never hangs. Open delivery locks the proposed window; appointment freight books the next available dock slot automatically.

Can a broker just refuse?

No. At posting every broker accepted this policy. The options are accept, a bounded counter, or timeout — refusal is not one of them on a verified emergency.

What about loads LoadBoot sourced from external boards?

LoadBoot Dispatch calls and emails the source contact directly, logs the outcome, and the same clock applies to our follow-up.

How is fraud caught?

GPS trail continuity, photo EXIF time/location, call-back, claim frequency, and repair-time cross-checks. Any failed sensor freezes auto-reschedule for human review.

Related policies

The full accessorial standard

These policies are LoadBoot marketplace standards agreed between posting parties and carriers. They are operational terms, not legal advice; the rate confirmation for each load is the controlling document.

What evidence to collect

The checklist that gets claims PAID — save it, use it on every load

Live GPS showing the truck stationary where the emergency was reported (the LoadBoot trip records it)

A timestamped photo of the breakdown or incident with matching time + location (phone EXIF)

Your honest road-ready estimate — 2h / 6h / 12h / 24h / 48h — the engine builds the new window from it

The original delivery window straight off the rate confirmation

Any repair invoice or roadside receipt once you have it

On LoadBoot most of this collects itself: GPS arrive/depart stamps, stop-proof photo uploads, the pre-agreed rate card on every posting, and a one-tap claim built from the trip record.

Broker refusing to pay? Read this first

The four denials you will hear — and the counter for each

🚫

“You’re late — that’s a service failure / TONU”

Not on a verified emergency. Every broker accepted the no-penalty clause at posting; with GPS + photo proof there is no TONU, no late fee and no on-time-score hit.

🚫

“We never agreed to reschedule”

The 2-hour response clock removes the argument: accept, counter within ±12h, or the policy auto-reschedules. Refusal is not one of the options on a verified emergency.

🚫

“Prove it’s a real breakdown”

That is exactly what the 4-point check does — live GPS trail, photo time/location, driver call-back and claim history. Fake reports fail the sensors and lose protection.

🚫

Broker goes silent to run out the clock

Silence does not park the load. After 2 hours open delivery locks the proposed window and appointment freight books the next available dock slot automatically.
